About Us:

This all began about three years ago through the generosity
and love of the Sosbee family.
Becki and Toby, along with their children set out to help
a little unforgotten corner of their community.
Those in need…. Every other Saturday, and off days when
the need was there, people came to their little red barn and were greeted with
love, smiles, & blessings. No judgment.
Some time back my husband, my children, and I joined them in their efforts.
Along with just enjoying our time with my sister and my brother-in-law, we
began to see what a difference they were really making.
We slowing began adding families in our neighborhood. This
is all really beginning to grow!
There have been a lot of prayers, tears, joy, & hard
work but it’s all worth it.

James 2:15-16

"If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?"

Let's fight hunger!

“SOWED” – Ramona & Guatay

Serving Others With Eternal Devotion

Feeding Families – Nourishing Souls

How We Help
Unfortunately, hunger in our areas has not eased with the economic boom we have experienced. Rapidly rising costs of living, extraordinary housing, transportation costs, layoffs, and changes in the job markets continue to impact our citizens.

Home Distributions
Free emergency food distributions are made from our house and are given to people who are referred to us by social service providers throughout the area including social workers, clergy, hospitals, and schools. The amount can usually provide nutrition for a family for three to five days, if necessary, until other forms of assistance become available.  Families need not provide any evidence of hardship to receive food.

Neighborhood Distributions
Direct free food distributions are made every other Saturday from our home at 678 Sabrina Terrace, Ramona.  We currently provide food for approximately 150 families each time we distribute.  Our normal times are 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Guatay distributions will be Saturday nights.

Community Partnership
Hunger is a symptom of other problems: homelessness, poverty, unemployment, and health issues. “SOWED” continually fights these larger problems and is better able to maximize resources with community partnership help.

Facts:
Did you know that nearly one fifth of all food produced for human consumption in the United States is wasted annually? (USDA, A Citizen’s Guide to Food Recovery.)
Food assistance programs like ours are part of the solution. "SOWED" collects and distributes surplus foods for hungry people to combat this unnecessary waste.
Many families are struggling to provide for basic needs like food and shelter. Unfortunately, many times, some cannot even afford that. Since 2007, Food for Others Ramona has been helping many of these families.

“SOWED”  is a primary safety net for those needing food when an emergency strikes, and for the growing number of working poor who are unable to make ends meet and need to supplement their inadequate food supplies.

“SOWED” obtains all of its food from Jordan Outreach Ministries in Coachella, California.  Our staff picks up good food that would be thrown away from local grocery stores and other retail food establishments due to minor imperfections in the box/conatiner. The food is brought to the Jordan Outreach Ministries warehouse for temporary storage, including refrigeration as appropriate.

Our Mission is to obtain and distribute free food to the hungry of Ramona and Guatay, supporting (when possible) food programs of other community-based organizations.

If you or someone you know is in need, please reach out.

SOWED, providing food for those in need.
